My Mission

Dr. Josh Whitehead is Executive Pastor, Ministries at Faith Promise Church in Knoxville, Tennessee. Faith Promise was established in 1995 and has grown to over 7,000 people worshipping each weekend across seven physical campuses in the East Tennessee Region, an International Campus in Liberia, Costa Rica, four God Behind Bars prison campuses and globally through the church online platform.

During his 20 years of leading, Faith Promise has continued to fulfill its mission of helping equip Christ-followers to Win their World. Over the years, the church has appeared on Outreach Magazine’s Top 100 Fastest Growing Churches list and the Top 100 Largest Churches list. Above all, the church is committed to helping people take next steps in their relationship with Jesus Christ through loving God, loving people, discovering their purpose, and winning their world.  

Josh’s desire is to help churches grow through creating strategies, culture and teams that facilitate growth. He has consulted with numerous churches over the past 15 years across the US and Canada.

Josh also serves as the Director of Leadership Development for Executive Leadership Solutions - an organization dedicated to helping high-level leaders find solutions to their most pressing challenges. Previously, Josh served as part of the team at Leadership Network, helping churches from the US and Canada who are exploring the topic of multisite and as a Lead Candidate Coach for Chemistry Staffing – a firm that helps churches find great staff members. 

Josh is involved in the Knoxville Community and serves as the President of the Board of Trustees for the Christian Academy of Knoxville.

Josh’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Louisiana State University, a Masters of Divinity degree with Biblical Languages from Southwestern Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry degree in Leadership and Administration from New Orleans Seminary. Josh is married to Heather, Physician Assistant & Vice President of Occupational Health Systems and they have 4 children – Hayden, Madison, Harper and Addison.

Josh’s life verse is found in Psalm 27:14 – “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!”
