Do you ever talk to yourself? Hopefully you do it quietly. If not, people probably think you are a little crazy! So, what do you say when you talk to yourself?

I’ve noticed lately that I talk to myself a lot. It all happens internally, but it involves decisions that I am making, motivation to accomplish something or how I want the future to look for our family. Sometimes it happens in response to the Holy Spirit’s prompting and other times it happens as I consider the natural course of life. Today, I noticed some things about my self-talk.

  • It’s normally very positive about life’s situations.
  • The talk says that I can accomplish anything.
  • It has tons of faith in it – particularly in spiritual areas about our family.

But I realized something – sometimes my natural conversations don’t always relay the same messages of my self-talk. My normal speech isn’t always as optimistic or filled with faith.

I want that to change.

What is the difference between what you say to yourself and what you say to others? Maybe what you are saying to yourself needs to change. Or, maybe what you are saying to others.

Great blog. I do talk to myself inwardly also. I find myself speaking more ill thought about people to myself than I do out load. Mostly because I don’t want to say something that will hurt my witness for Christ. It is rather convicting though to read Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. If you think it, you as well have said/done it.

I also watch what comes from my mouth because of one of my Scripture memory quotes: Ephesians 4:29-Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.

I speak more positive things outloud in hopes that I will create a positive attitude in me and others.

I heard an evangelist say once, what comes from your mouth flows out of your heart.

I’m talking to myself as I write this. Am I nuts?

    Love ya Pastor Josh.
