You are probably comparing your self with someone. It is just a natural thing that we do – whether you are a believer or not. Honestly, it’s not just because we want to make ourselves feel better by comparing ourselves to people that are not as committed as we are. We often compare “us” to “others” so that we can simply let ourselves off the hook.

Here’s how it works. You are on staff at a church and you are not the pastor. You hear your pastor talk about the time that he spends with God and you think, “If I were the pastor, I would do what he does. But since I am not the pastor, what I am doing is great.” You are letting yourself off the hook.

My challenge: Ask God what He desires from you each day. God doesn’t want you to compare yourself to others and you can never compare to Him. God wants you to do what He says – every day of every week of every year. God wants you to walk with Him and follow what he says for your life.

So, quit comparing yourself to others – for good or bad. Start asking God each day what He desires in your life. I guarantee that He will reveal it to you.

Here’s one: If I was a full time paid staff member, then I’d give 100% too.

Good point! As christians, aren’t we all full time ministers of the Gospel?

I find that not only do we compare ourselves, but others will also play the comparison game for you. I have replaced someone recently and I cannot tell you how many times I hear about how my predecessor did this or that. My response has always been, “I am not them,” I guess it will stop over time.
