Recently, Hayden, our 4-year old started Pre-K. It has been a blast for him – he even wakes up on Saturday’s asking if he can go to school! I’m sure that will change one day. Yesterday he brought this home:

Hayden Vowels

Of course we were thrilled – I mean who wouldn’t be when your child scores a 100% on his Oral Evaluation of the Vowel Sounds. He has his mom’s brains!

After I got over the initial thrill, I remembered that knowing his vowels is important, but knowing other things is so much more important. I’m huge on education – I don’t think you can get enough. But here’s what I pray daily for our kiddos:

  • That the influence of Christ will overcome the influence of the world.
  • That they will walk with Christ their entire lives – from the time they trust Him as their Savior until they leave this earth – being pure and holy in every stage.
  • That they will always have a passion for Him.
  • That they will be a leader of leaders and impact the world for Him – whatever that means.
  • That they will reach their generation for Christ.
  • That they will find a godly mate who wants to serve Christ with their life.

Of course, I throw in other things, but this is the daily list.

What do you pray for your kiddos each day?

    hey bro.
Just remember when they bring home that first bad grade ,and it will happen. tell them that” if you always get 100′s then you are not learning anything. You have to”not” know it before you can learn it”. I went through this just tues. Caitlyn brought home a 69 on a page of geography work. She way very distraught, she couldn’t stop crying . Then i explained that you go to school to learn not to show that you know everything already. it worked .i helped her figure out what she did wrong. (she didn’t understand exactly what the questions were asking for) all was well. Not that getting bad grades is good, but some times you can teach them a valuable lesson that will help them in the “art” of failure. People have taught there children that “you are perfect” then they cant handle adverse things in life, they need to know that bad things will happen and how to deal with them when they do.If you fall off the horse get back on.
    thanks for the prayers.

I pray that my kids will pursue after God with reckless abandon, and that they will be risk takers for Christ.
