The other day Hayden and I were getting into the car when he found a pair of my binoculars. He asked if he could see them while we were driving and I said sure. He proceeded to look at every thing in sight and tell me about it.
At one point we stopped and he was looking at a sign. While he was looking through the binoculars the right way he said that the sign was so close that he could see all the letters. Then, he turned the binoculars around and asked me why the sign was so far away. I know that I was supposed to have an answer and it has something to do with the lenses, but I really did not have a clue.
Then it hit me: this is a God-moment. In our walk with Christ, sometimes He seems so close to us and at other times so far away. Most often, except for in those times when God withdraws, He is right there. But when I spend less time with Him and do not pursue a relationship with Him, it’s like looking at Him through the wrong end of the binoculars – He’s so far away. And when I am walking with Him, He seems closer than I could ever believe – like looking through the right end of the binoculars.
Not sure about you, but I think that God is there all the time, but I let my circumstances and frustrations cloud my view of Him. Are you looking through the wrong end of the binoculars? Turn them around and you’ll notice that He is closer than you think!
It‘s quiet in here! Why not leave a response?
