I was reading this passage yesterday morning and realized that there have been times when Kim and I felt just like Peter. Mark 10 says

Peter said to him, “We have left everything to follow you!” “I tell you the truth,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—and with them, persecutions) and in the age to come, eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”

Honestly, we have not left everything. We have an awesome house, an incredible church family and a great small group. It’s the family part that is tough for us. Even though my parents will come at a moments notice, we often times wish that we had family by us to spend holidays with, hang out with or to selfishly drop the kids off with! Both of our families are 9+ hours in opposite directions.

Some of you guys have truly left everything. Your decision to go into ministry created a divide in your family. You really do not feel like you have ever had those relationships replaced in your life with close friends in ministry. If you fit there, I am praying for you today. The disciples where where you are today, and Jesus said that He would provide 100-fold to you.

We’ve been blessed with friends at FPC that are of the hundred-fold variety. I’m praying that you will experience the hundred fold today, that your ministry will thrive for His glory and that you will have relationships in your place of ministry that will be like family.
