One of the privileges in ministry is the opportunity to do weddings. And, it’s even greater to do them when you know the couple. Tonight as I was officiating the ceremony for Kevin and Megan (why do we say officiating?), it hit me – I like doing weddings because of the wedding secrets. There are only 3 people who know everything that happens at a wedding: the Bride, the Groom and the Pastor. While the ceremony is unfolding, the couple shares secrets that the Pastor gets to be a part of. When the couple shares about their nerves or their love, the Pastor gets to overhear. It really is cool.

Then something else hit me. Just like the Pastor gets to hear the secrets of the Bride and Groom, so God hears the secrets in our lives. God is always there – He’s always in the room. God is a part of everything that we as Believers are a part of. Somehow I find comfort in that and conviction at the same time!

You must do funerals too; and that part would not be fun; although I presume some people attending funerals get saved after facing their own mortality.

We wouldn’t have wanted anybody else there to do the service. You were awesome, and everybody that we’ve talked to also said you were too! We love you man!!!
