Have you ever noticed that kids will try to do some of the craziest things? Even though the odds are totally stacked against them, they will keep trying and trying – sometimes for long periods of times.

A little while ago we had one of those moments. Madison (2) loves to wear her mom’s shoes, and today she decided to wear them to walk up the stairs to nap. They kept slipping off but she would not take a step without them on. Finally, she made it up the stairs. Look at how the odds were stacked against her.

Determination

As leaders, we often lack determination. At times we give up to quickly and at other times we try things for longer than we should. There seems to be a balance in determination that we can learn from kids. Even though they will try anything, at some point they will stop (even though it may be a long time after starting). They don’t feel like a failure – they move on to the next feat.

Where do you need to be more determined? Where are you so determined for something to work but God has clearly told you it is not His will? Let go and move on to the next feat – and if you have doubts, watch your kiddos!
