I have the greatest Dad in the world – he’s the real deal. Seriously, my dad has provided for me in every way in life. So, what makes my dad great?

  • Sacrifice – I’ll never forget my Dad driving a 1982 white, long bed Toyota pick-up truck for 20+ years so that we could have cars and my parents could afford the car insurance. That’s just one of a list of ways that he has sacrificed for our family.
  • Example – My dad never asked me to do something that he did not do as well. He was an example in every area of life.
  • Character – Dad has always had strong character. He has loved my mom, supported our family and has always been a true gentleman.
  • Humility – My dad has achieved amazing things in his life. He has been with Exxon-Mobil for over 35 years (July 9 will be 36 years) and is a loyal, faithful employee. He’s a humble man, never promoting himself for personal gain.
  • Affection – Dad was a running back on his football team in high school, but he was never to tough to hug and kiss his kids. Even today I don’t shake my dad’s hand – I hug his neck. I’ll never let that go away!
  • Servant – Dad has served the church faithfully in numerous capacities – deacon, committee member, etc. Even better, my dad supports the staff of his church. Wish there were a ton of him out there.

Dad, you have been the model of a real man, and I’m grateful to get to stand on the shoulders of such an amazing person as I seek to lead my family. Happy Father’s Day! I love you and wish I was there to give you a hug!
