This morning our Pastor did a great job talking about God as our Father and dad’s being a father. Here are some points or you can watch the message below – I would recommend it!
- When we do not study about God, we begin to worship the God of our imagination, not of the Bible
- We connect with our heavenly Father like our earthly father
- The Bible is progressive in revelation – you know more than Abraham, Elijah, etc
- Matt 6: pray “Our Father” – Jesus did not say “my Father” but “our Father”
- Adam & Eve would’ve never dreamed of calling God father
- OT – word Father is only used 7x for God – Deut 1:31, 32:6 (first time God called Father). Called God “Father” 150x in NT – 7x in Matt 6
- A father is intimate
