I have to admit that I have been blessed with some amazing people in my life. But two people tower over everyone else: my mom and my wife. For those who know my family, my mom and I are exactly alike. We think the same way, we write the same way and we are strong-willed people. But some other things you don’t know about my mom:
- Mom always worked part-time when we were in school so that she could drop us off and pick us up from school.
- Mom always helped with projects and papers (she proofed all of my seminary papers and every article that I have ever written).
- Mom always sacrifices so that we can have things that she would never get for herself.
- Mom always made sure that we took great vacations.
- Mom always had a plan to make sure that we all received college degrees (and we did – GEAUX Tigers).
- Mom always told Santa what to get us for Christmas – and he brought it!
- Mom always loved our family more than anything else.
I have an amazing Mom. Honestly, we have stood on her shoulders and that’s how my sisters and I made it where we are today! I love you Mom – Happy Mother’s Day.
My wife is also an incredible mom and is my perfect complement. She supports our family every day and without her, we would never accomplish the things that we have been a part of for Christ and the church. Some things you may not know about my wife (and Hayden & Madison’s mom):
- My wife is an artist, pianist, and has written 2 children’s books that will probably be published one day.
- My wife is a stay-at-home mom: the hardest job in America today.
- My wife always sacrifices every day for our kiddos. Hayden calls her “his girl” and Madison loves “Momma” more than anyone else!
- My wife always supports my leadership, even though I’m not a great leader at times.
- My wife loves Texas – you can take the girl out of Texas but you can’t take Texas out of the girl. Amen?
- My wife loves Christ, and she has taught our kiddos more about God than I thought possible for them at the ages of 4 and 2. She has won hundreds of people to Christ and is an amazing example of a woman who truly LIVES for and SERVES Christ. If you are a woman and have a chance to get to know my wife, you should.
Kim, you are a great wife and mom. Even though I will be hammered for saying it, you make life “magical.” Happy Mothers Day, Kim. We love you!
OK, if you’re going to use the word magical, this is may be the only instance where I won’t give you a hard time.
