What an awesome day throughout the campuses of FPC! The second message of the series The Unit entitled “How to Beat the Odds” was probably one of the best messages on the family that I have heard. Here are some thoughts for you:
- Our biological families, not money, education, etc dictate our lives.
- Exodus 20:5-6 ~ the stuff from your family flows downhill – from 1 generation to the next. People do what people see.
- Luke 6:40 – I’ve never used it in the family context, but you will be like your parents.
- How do you beat the odds? I prayed and God said, “By His stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:3-6)
- You can carry your own life “stuff” or give it to Christ.
- Pastor gave his testimony – if you haven’t heard it, watch the message here.
- “I dove off the high dive into the deep end of Jesus. The thought of missing anything that had to do with church never entered my mind.”
- “I made the church my family.”
- Want a new life? Then get new friends.
- Confess Him as your Lord, boss, master.
- You have to make a decision to be committed to the church. Jesus didn’t have a “plan B” if the church didn’t work.
- One day, God will show you the life He planned for you and ask why you didn’t live it.
