What a weekend – probably the best message on salvation I have ever heard preached! Pastor clarified some issues from a message that he preached a couple of weeks ago entitled, What’s Natural to You? Before he got up to speak, we gave a lighthearted spin to follow-up from last weeks message on tithing – The Accountants’ Bad Rap (stolen from YouTube and reproduced at FPC – hilarious!!!). Here’s a recap of this message:
- Most pastors and churches are concerned about a prayer you prayed not a life you lived.
- Look at the red letters – Jesus said to count the cost, not pray a prayer!
- I believe in eternal security of the believer and Romans 10:13 – but I also believe other verses as well.
- Jesus looks at the heart – you can’t work your way to heaven. If you could, the cross doesn’t make sense.
- The meanest people I’ve ever met are church people (I agree – see this post).
- If you beat your wife, you are not saved. Jesus said you are to love your wife like He loved the church.
- Jesus came to start a revolution, not a religion.
- No life change = no new heart = no salvation.
- You can tape oranges on an apple tree, but you will not change the tree.
- Why do we never worry about the soil of our hearts?
- There is no fear of God in the 21st Century church.
- People get historical about their salvation. In Scripture, salvation is not past tense – it’s about today.
- The word Christian is pathetically weak in our culture today. That’s why I say Christ follower.
- American is rejecting the Jesus of the church not the Jesus of the Bible.
- Those that endure to the end will be saved.
- I believe to the core of who I am that you cannot lose real salvation.
If you know someone who is not a Christ follower, you should send them this link. I was overwhelmed by the fact that many people that I know and love are hanging on to “historical salvation” when there is no proof that they were ever saved. That should burden me as a Christian!
It‘s quiet in here! Why not leave a response?
