Last night Kyle and I were traveling back from Catalyst One Day following the directions given by the GPS. As we drove along, I wondered if my newly updated GPS maps knew a shorter way home from North Point Community Church than previously traveled. The further we drove, the lower the gas gauge dropped. I passed some gas stations thinking we would find one that had a restaurant as a part of it (classy, right?). It didn’t happen and when we finally stopped, here’s what we saw:

I proceeded to pump gas when Kyle saw a sign that said, “No Debit or Credit Cards” (poorly written on cardboard on one pump). I immediately stopped pumping gas and was at $1.50. Problem: I NEVER carry cash! Earlier in the day I had found a $1 bill in Kim’s car and now searched to find 50 cents. We found it with only 12 cents to spare. Still out of gas, we went back 12 miles to an open gas station before heading home. Crazy night!

Sometimes I think my relationship with God feels like my experience with the GPS. God is telling me where to go, but I am questioning whether He has updated His maps. After I follow Him, I can look back and see His leadership in my life. God, thanks for being WAY better than my GPS!

Still a little disappointed that we didn’t run out of gas out there in the middle of nowhere. That kind of thing just cracks me up, and I was in the mood for a long walk.

What a crazy night – I’m still tired from the long day!
