Chris Stephens, Senior Pastor of FPC often relates the story that John Maxwell spent time every week sending notes to individuals that he observed doing amazing things in ministry the previous weekend. Lately I have had the chance to work closely with our KidK’nex Galaxy and Club 45 volunteers. It is amazing to see the people who have given their lives to ministering to kids each week and helping them take next steps to Jesus.
After each weekend, I always think, “I need to write a note to thank _________ for what they did this past weekend.” But, I haven’t done it. Today, God beat me up with this thought – “Leaders Care.” It’s the bottom line. I’ve tried to make myself feel better by noting to that I am not naturally very encouraging or that I am very busy. That doesn’t work! God has put me in a position to be reminded that I need to take the time to care by writing notes or making phone calls. God, I got the message and I’m on it! If you aren’t writing notes and encouraging people, God is probably speaking to you as well.
