Sometimes when I have a tough week, I wish there was a perfect church. Imagine it with me: a staff that makes perfect decisions, says everything the right way, leads volunteers to accomplish everything, builds the perfect buildings, spends every dollar the right way, etc. However, I realize that even the best leaders sometimes make bad decisions (please tell me if I am the only one this happens too).
The best leaders say things the wrong way – often with the best intentions. They lead volunteers with a passion – but only accomplish some things. They build facilities desiring to consider every detail – and miss something. They buy things after thorough research – that turns out to be the wrong thing.
No, I don’t wish for the perfect church. It seems that in the imperfection, we get to see God’s grace lived out. I’ll keep the imperfect church.
All you can do is your best! Can you imagine being a surgeon where a person’s life is on the line? You know they have to learn to feel good as long as they did their best.
I made a really stupid mistake with my business that ended up costing me quite a big chunk of change, but I told Misty, it’s done, it’s over, now I need to go sell something and I will be even again. Otherwise, you end up sulking over spoiled milk and it costs you more! Athletes live by this rule if they are really good.
