Yesterday in our Senior Leadership Team meeting, Art, Michele, Randy and I talked about some future issues & current realities that we face as a ministry. For some reason, I became a broken record and kept repeating, “We need to come up with solutions.” Even though that may be partially right, I’ve thought more about my statement. Although we need solutions, we really need processes that lead to solutions. So often we may know what the outcome should look like, but we are not able to clearly define what process is most effective to get us where we are going. Often we are short-sighted on process – we’re thinking about today and not about the future. Our processes should be able to outlive this year, otherwise they were probably not well planned or thought through.
Honestly, one of the biggest things on my mind these days is what it takes for our team to do things more efficiently and effectively. A lot of this is going to be found in the processes that we choose. With uncertainty in the economy and job losses measured on a global scale, strategic processes may have to take us further when we lack resource dollars to add staff. Any thoughts?
You know me, I am all about the process. The great thing about a process is that if it is done right, it can reduce errors and ultimately risk. An efficient process can greatly increase effectiveness and reduce costs. I could have written a chapter on this topic, but I might save that for my blog!!!!
We really do need to evaluate every process and clarify/change them to go to the next level in structure. Great word!
For several months the thought has occurred to me that there might be some kind of way for the church to start producing their own training/reference material and also sell it to other churches. This could be for children’s ministry, some sort of topic someone has expertise in etc. Maybe a wild idea, but who knows. Some of the big ministries are funded this way.
Ooooh! Ooooh! Oooooh! I feel like Horshack from Welcome Back Cotter! There are few words that get my blood pumping faster than processes and efficiency! Well, research and analysis come pretty close. Whether at work or at home, I am constantly thinking about how to do things better and faster. Please let me know if there is a way I can serve in this capacity!
