Yesterday I had the privilege to be a part of a conference call with a great leader. As the call went on, I was amazed at the leadership poise displayed by the guy leading the call. Here were some things that I picked up.
- Careful Thoughts – He was careful about how he worded things, always giving enough information but not to much.
- Listening & Clarifying – He was a great listener and sought to understand and clarify where it was needed.
- Clear Timeline – He was very clear about the speed at which things would move & who would be involved.
- Honest Feedback – He gave honest feedback to every question that was asked.
- Humble Approach – Although he didn’t have to, his approach was perceived as humble and Christ-centered. He had a Kingdom perspective that was evident in all that was said.
Honestly, the more I learn about and observe leadership in the lives of great leaders, the more I realize that I need to learn. It’s like the Christian Life – the more I learn about Christ and seek to become like Him, the more areas I realize there are in my life that need His control. Sometimes it’s exhausting and overwhelming to think about, but it ultimately challenges me to grow.
The thing I like most about your post is the title. I have heard it said that leaders are learners. They are always improving and bettering themselves. You might be closer than you think!!!
