Last night I prepared for my message this weekend in our series, “Character Illustrated.” I am preaching on Courage. This morning I left the house and headed to Pastor’s for a video shoot about courage. You see, on his dock there is a diving board about 20′ above the water. A few weeks ago our staff had a fun day at the lake and I did not jump off the diving board. He gave me a hard time on video, so I had to go back to the dock and show that I have the courage to jump. Can I tell you that it was a long walk to the end of that diving board – and off I went.  I’ll put the video online in the next few days. Anyway, it brought new meaning to my passage for the weekend – Joshua 1:6-9, “Be strong and courageous.” As I sit here watching Olympic diving, I want to ask a question that I asked in the video this morning. What takes more courage for an Olympic Diver: 1) Jumping off of the high dive or 2) Wearing a tiny Speedo among billions of viewers. Your call.
