It amazes me in the Gospels to see how Jesus always has a crowd around Him. In Luke 15, Jesus is surrounded by people – not the religious – but tax collectors and sinners. The church people complained, but Jesus summed it up saying, “I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.”

In the church today, we measure lots of things. But do we ever stop to measure relevance by the number of people that enter our church each week that have no relationship with Him? Most people today would say that lots of irreligious people in one church means that they are preaching an easy gospel. Yet these people followed Christ and His teaching.

At FPC, we see tons of people with no connection to Him enter the campus each week. And, we do everything within our power to “connect” them – using any means possible. How is your church doing? Who enters your campus each week – the Pharisees and scribes or the tax collectors and sinners? It should be both if you are doing what He called us to!
